Classically-trained St. Louis native Dan Schaefer was voluntarily transplanted to Nashville in the mid-‘90s, and a hook-heavy, soulful pop writing style was treated to an infusion of folk, country and Americana influences. His songs have been cut by independent artists including Mark Hatt, Cindy Standage and Kathy Hussey; production credits include his own catalog and the Alan Oatley EP This is Not an Apology. He can often be found playing tunes at random watering holes in Nashville and elsewhere, sometimes as part of Music City's acclaimed writing and performing consortium The Variety Pack. Plans is a concept album documenting one man's journey from the wrong life to the right one.  The songs
were composed during the final year of an epic battle between two possible futures, then recorded
in a one-week explosion of victory once the war was won.  Raw, deep, thoughtful, inspirational...
the new record personifies life's obstacles and details a sometimes-calm, sometimes-manic course
over and past them, from darkness and fear into enlightened peace.  The highly personal becomes
accessible and universal in a mature pop song-set that could be about a midlife crisis, a massive breakup,
or any number of other major upheavals...and may be about any or all of the above, depending on
the perspective of the listener and his or her own point of reference.  If Adele and Sam Smith had their
genetic material combined and the resulting human's climb to the top of the world's tallest mountain
to enjoy the most beautiful view imaginable became a documentary film, the soundtrack might end up
sounding a lot like...Plans.
